University of British Columbia - UBC Sauder School of Business He holds a Ph.D. in management from the University of Arizona, an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University. His research focuses on leader signaling behavior, including the effects of humor, anger, curiosity, and power. His work has been featured by The Washington Post, Forbes, Financial Times, and Harvard Business Review. Prior to academia, Jon served as a Civil Engineer Corps officer in the United States Navy; following his military service he managed capital projects for ExxonMobil in Nigeria, Russia, and Qatar. Outside of work, he is most likely to be found out in the rain, enjoying the mountain bike trails in North Vancouver.
