What makes MSU Broad's
STEM MBA Different!

Extensive Experiential Learning and Real-World Projects

Beyond classroom learning, Broad STEM MBA students engage in hands-on, immersive learning experiences like Extreme Green (a 4-day corporate challenge where companies present live business problems), Spartan Consulting (student-run consulting group serving local industries and startups), and tech treks (professional development trips to major business hubs).

Quantitatively-Intensive Curriculum

The STEM MBA curriculum combines the full 54-credit Full-Time MBA experience (strategy, operations, finance, marketing, leadership) with quantitatively-intensive electives in areas like financial data analytics, machine learning in finance, supply chain analytics, and marketing analytics. Students graduate with both the strategic breadth of an MBA and the analytical depth employers increasingly require — positioning them competitively for data-driven business roles at tech, consulting, and Fortune 500 firms.

Small, Compact Cohort with Team-Based Learning

With only ~54–70 students per cohort, the program offers intimate class sizes, significant faculty access, and deep peer relationships. STEM and Full-Time MBA students work together in 5-person teams that are reshuffled each semester, simulating real-world cross-functional collaboration.

Exceptional Financial Support

Broad awards over $2.6 million annually in competitive, merit-based fellowships and graduate assistantships. Approximately 90% of Broad Full-Time/STEM MBA students receive some form of financial support, with awards ranging from $2,000 to $31,000 per year for two years.

Global Alumni Network

Broad graduates join a global alumni community of 85,000+ business alumni spanning more than 100 countries, with MSU's broader Spartan network exceeding 600,000 alumni worldwide. This global reach is particularly valuable for international students building cross-border careers, and the alumni community is known for being highly engaged and supportive

Frequently Asked Questions

Get all your questions answered about STEM MBA by MSU Broad

The STEM MBA and Full-Time MBA are the same 54-credit, 21-month program — same cohort, same core curriculum, same faculty. The difference lies in elective selection: STEM MBA students complete quantitatively-focused electives (math, statistics, analytics, financial modeling) within one of three STEM-designated concentrations — Finance, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management. This qualifies the degree for STEM designation, giving international students 3 years of OPT work authorization vs. just 1 year for the traditional MBA. Indian students targeting U.S. careers should always choose the STEM track.
Three concentrations qualify: Finance, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. The following concentrations do NOT qualify for STEM: Human Resources & Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Business Analytics (secondary), and Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability (secondary). If U.S. employment via H-1B is your goal, choose one of the three STEM concentrations as your primary track.
Applicants need a 4-year undergraduate degree (or 3-year UG + master's), a completed application with resume, essays, and two professional/academic references. GMAT/GRE is optional (average admitted GMAT: 604, GRE: 316, undergraduate GPA: 3.4). Broad recommends at least 2 years of post-bachelor's work experience — current cohort averages 3 years — but applicants with less experience are considered, especially with strong GMAT (615+) or GRE (320+) scores and a 3.4+ GPA. International students need TOEFL/IELTS scores (waivers available for English-medium degrees).
Tuition is $57,536/year for international students (2025–2026), with estimated total cost of attendance around $88,953/year including fees, living, and expenses. However, Broad awards over $2.6 million annually in merit-based fellowships and graduate assistantships, and ~90% of Full-Time/STEM MBA students receive some form of financial support — awards ranging from $2,000 to $31,000 per year for two years. All applicants are automatically considered — no separate application needed. Indian students can also access private education loans via HDFC Credila, Avanse, Prodigy Finance, or MPOWER.
Class of 2024 STEM/Full-Time MBA graduates achieved strong outcomes: average base salary $120,000 with $20,500 signing bonus, 78% employed within 3 months and 93%+ within 6 months. Top industries: Technology (32%), Consulting (16%), Consumer Products (16%), Healthcare/Pharma (12%), Manufacturing (8%), Financial Services (8%). Top recruiters include Amazon, Microsoft, Deloitte, EY, PwC, Ford, General Motors, PepsiCo, P&G, and Johnson & Johnson. The STEM designation's 3-year OPT is a significant advantage for international students pursuing full-time U.S. employment with H-1B sponsorship.
