What makes MSU Broad's
Master's in Accounting Different!

STEM-Designated Program with 3-Year OPT Eligibility

The M.S. in Accounting & Data Analytics is STEM-designated, giving international students 3 years of OPT work authorization (vs. the standard 1 year for non-STEM programs). This extended work period dramatically improves the odds of securing H-1B sponsorship through the annual lottery, making it a strong pathway to long-term U.S. employment in accounting and finance.

Satisfies the 150-Credit CPA Requirement

The program can be completed in 12–24 months and fulfills the 150-credit-hour requirement needed to sit for the CPA certification exam in all U.S. states. Many students complete the CPA, CISA, or CMA exams while earning their graduate degree — with an 80% CPA first-attempt pass rate, well above the 54.4% national average.

Targeted Recruiting School for the Big 4

MSU Broad is a targeted recruiting school for all four Big 4 accounting firms — Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG — as well as leading regional firms like Plante Moran and BDO. This gives students direct access to structured recruiting pipelines, on-campus interviews, and strong alumni networks inside every Big 4 firm.

Integrated Data Analytics and Technology Curriculum

The program blends traditional accounting with cutting-edge data analytics, covering data visualization, predictive modeling, Python programming, and AI fundamentals applied to accounting problems. Graduates enter the workforce as tech-enabled accountants who can analyze large datasets, automate audit workflows, and provide strategic insights — skills that command higher starting salaries and position students for faster advancement in modern finance and accounting roles.

Strong Alumni Network in Accounting Leadership

MSU accounting alumni hold senior positions across Big 4 firms, Fortune 500 finance departments, and major government agencies. The program's long-standing reputation (established accounting program with AACSB accreditation since 1953) has built a deep, active alumni network that provides mentorship, referrals, and job opportunities — particularly valuable for international students building their U.S. professional network.
