What makes Pittsburgh - Katz's
Accelerated MBA Different!

12-Month Intensive Format

The Accelerated MBA enables you to complete a Katz MBA full-time in an intensive 12-month format, minimizing the time you spend away from the workforce. The program begins in early August and is designed to be completed in three consecutive terms, concluding in July. This gives it one of the fastest ROI timelines among US MBAs — and notably, Katz was the first US business school to pioneer the one-year MBA format (since 1963).

Integrated Learning Curriculum

Integrative coursework in strategic communications, computational thinking, and the core MBA curriculum provide the framework for integrated learning. Elective coursework provides experience-based learning opportunities to hone skills in integrative management. Students work through case competitions, community-based projects, and consulting field projects with real clients rather than purely classroom theory.

Specialized 1 on 1 Career Coaching

The program gives you time for a summer internship and includes an intensive integrated learning capstone experience during your final semester. The Career Management and Corporate Engagement (CMCE) team provides individualized coaching, industry-specific mentoring, and corporate access through the Executives in Residence program, with 94% of MBA students finding employment within 90 days of graduation with a starting salary and bonus of $107,793/year

Global Exposure via Research Practicum

All Katz MBA programs include a Global Research Practicum — a short-term international immersion with a live business project component. This gives even the compressed 12-month cohort meaningful global business exposure, along with access to Katz's international network (EMBA locations in Pittsburgh, São Paulo, and Prague).

Cohort-Based Learning Experience Compact

Accelerated MBA intentionally keeps cohort sizes small, creating a tight-knit community of experienced professionals. Unlike larger MBA programs where students can get lost in the crowd, Katz's cohort model ensures direct faculty access, strong peer networking, and personalized attention — students typically know every classmate and build lifelong professional relationships within the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get all your questions answered about Accelerated MBA by Pittsburgh - Katz

The Accelerated MBA is a compressed 12-month program (August to July) designed for experienced professionals who want to advance within their current industry or functional area — essentially a career accelerator. The Signature MBA runs 18 months and includes time for a summer internship, making it better suited for career changers who need space to explore new industries or functions. Both degrees are identical upon graduation, AACSB-accredited, and offer the same alumni network — the difference lies purely in pace and intent.
Yes, Katz offers STEM-designated pathways, including the MBA with Business Analytics track. For international students, STEM designation is significant because it extends OPT (Optional Practical Training) work authorization in the US from 1 year to 3 years post-graduation — a major advantage for building a US career, applying for H-1B visas across multiple lottery cycles, and maximizing ROI on the degree.
Standard requirements include a 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, professional work experience, essays, two letters of recommendation, and an evaluative interview. Katz operates a test-optional admissions process — GMAT/GRE scores are not required but can strengthen an application, especially for scholarship consideration. International students must submit TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores for English proficiency. A GMAT/GRE waiver is available for candidates with extensive professional experience who demonstrate strong quantitative and qualitative skills.
For non-PA residents, tuition for the Accelerated MBA is approximately $92,103 for the full program. Katz offers merit-based scholarships, and all applicants are automatically considered at the point of admission — there's no separate scholarship application needed. International students are also eligible for private education loans from US and international lenders (including Indian education-loan providers like HDFC Credila, Prodigy Finance, MPOWER, and Avanse). Graduate Assistantships and fellowships may also be available on a limited basis.
Katz has strong placement outcomes: 94% of MBA graduates are employed within 90 days of graduation, with a combined starting salary and bonus of around $107,793 (median base salary ~$113,000 + median signing bonus ~$20,000 per Bloomberg Businessweek 2025-26 data). Graduates land roles primarily in consulting, financial services, and technology, with top recruiters including McKinsey, IBM, PNC, UPMC, Mastercard, Johnson & Johnson, and Bristol Myers Squibb. The dedicated Career Management and Corporate Engagement (CMCE) team provides 1:1 coaching from day one of the program.
