What makes Pittsburgh - Katz's
MS in Accounting and Business Analytics Different!

STEM-Designated Degree with Extended OPT

The program is STEM-designated, which gives international F-1 students access to a 36-month Optional Practical Training (OPT) work authorization in the US — 24 months longer than a non-STEM accounting master's. This is a major advantage for Indian and other international students planning to work in the US post-graduation.

Flexible 9–12 Month Completion

The program is a full-time, minimum 33-credit master's degree that can be completed in 9–12 months (two terms) if you already have a US bachelor's in accounting. Students from other academic backgrounds may complete the program in three or four terms with up to 43.5 credits of graduate coursework.

Integrated Data Analytics + Accounting Curriculum

The tech-forward curriculum includes elective offerings like Accounting Data Analytics, Python/R programming, AI for Business, and Data Mining, preparing graduates for accounting in a data-driven world. This dual focus sets it apart from traditional MAcc programs — you graduate with both CPA-ready accounting knowledge and hands-on analytical tools used in modern finance and audit functions.

CPA Exam Readiness with Above-Average Pass Rates

Katz MS in Accounting students have a first-time CPA pass rate of 70%, compared to the Pennsylvania state average of 55.7% and the national average of 50%. Students also get a unique opportunity to assist the AICPA in field-testing questions that may appear on future CPA exams — few schools offer this. The 33+ credits also help you meet the 150-credit hour requirement needed for CPA licensure in most US states.

Strong Placement and Big 4 Access

MAcc graduates enjoy a full-time job placement rate of over 95%, with opportunities at Big 4 firms and beyond.Katz's career management team provides individualized advising from day one, and the program's Pittsburgh location gives direct access to recruiters from PNC, UPMC, EY, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, and regional firms.
